Public Transit Protest

Cuts to Saint John transit is the subject of a Saturday afternoon protest in kings square
50 people showed up At kings square saturday around noon to protest against the Transit cuts and marched down king street . The held a mock funeral outside city hall. Organizer Tammy Richards, says ipoor and low income families, will be hurt by the cuts to bus service along with the elderly the disabled. The Transit commission announced more cuts in early march to trim the budget by 250 Thousand dollars. This follows a 12% cut back in december.

Fire in the North End 02/01/12

At around 4pm today fire crews responded to reports of a fire in a bedroom at 6 Anglin Crescent. Crews quickly knocked down a fire in a dresser in one of the apartment units.
There were reports of a person trapped in another apartment inside the building. Crews made forceful entry to that unit and found that the apartment was empty.  No one is reported to be injured and the occupants are being displaced for the night, while investigators check the scene.
