Nikon - Nikkor 50mm f1.8D
Recently I watched Kai from DigitalRev TV describe five reasons why you need a “Nifty Fifty” AKA a 50mm Prime lens and I literally picked up the Nikkor 50mm F1.8D on the way home from school the same day. I payed $180 taxes in for this little Beauty.
And from what I have saw so far…its
BOKEH-LICIOUS.
Even if on my cropped DX sensor Nikon D90 it still produced amazing photos, and with it wide open at 1.8 it is absolutly amazing in super low-light.
It IS an Auto-Focus but its motor driven so it may not work on some new Entry level DSLR’s and has an manual aperture ring that you lock to f22 before attaching to the camera body. you have to leave it at f22 or you’ll get an f[EE] error. most new Nikons’ will control the aperture via the cameras Dial. The aperture its self has 6 non-rounded blades, where as its new younger AF-S brother the 50mm f1.8G has 7 Rounded blades.
All in All if I had the money Id get the f1.8G lens, but for the money the D is just as good!
Test Shots

The only light in this is from the monitor and some old Clear Christmas lights. it makes the lens in the photo, a 18-200 f3.5-5.6 struggle.

The focus is dead on, but at 1.8 there isn't much in focus... its very shallow. As you can see here the background is blurred all out and even the edges of my 18-200 are blending away.

This is out of focus on purpose... but i wanted to show off the BOHEK Balls
